Biography
Leif Jensen launched the oddly monikered German death/thrash band Dew-Scented in 1992, initially serving as its drummer before shifting to lead vocals. Working alongside a rotating cast of short-lived collaborators, he converted a pair of early recordings—Symbolization in 1993 and an untitled promo the following year—into a recording contract with the regional independent Steamhammer, which issued the group’s first full-length album, Immortelle, in 1996. Persistent road work steadily enlarged the outfit’s following, and the arrival of guitarist Florian Müller together with drummer Uwe Werning enabled Jensen, guitarist Ralf Klein, and bassist Patrick Helms to sharpen their blistering thrash approach across two further releases: Innocent, produced by Dan Swanö in 1998, and Ill-Natured in 1999, both appearing on Grind Syndicate Media. Dew-Scented subsequently signed with Nuclear Blast, whereupon the quartet—now without Klein—recorded Inwards in 2002, followed by Impact in 2003 and Issue VI in 2005, the latter introducing bassist Alexander Pahl, as the band jostled with Arch Enemy, the Haunted, and other contenders for dominance within the neo-death/thrash arena.
