Biography
Emerging amid the mid-2000s thrash metal resurgence, the Pomona, CA outfit Bonded by Blood stood out as one of its most unapologetic newcomers. The group adopted both its name and nearly every musical hallmark from Exodus’ groundbreaking first album. Like countless contemporaries around 2005, the musicians showed no interest in forging a novel sound, yet the high-octane mosh-pit chaos generated by vocalist Jose “Aladdin” Barrales, guitarists Alex Lee and Juan Juarez, bassist Ruben Dominguez (later succeeded by Jerry Garcia), and drummer Carlos Regalado remained impeccably faithful to 1980s conventions. Following the independent release of their 2007 EP Extinguish the Weak, the five-piece secured a deal with Earache Records and issued its first full-length effort, Feed the Beast, in 2008; that album was succeeded two years later by Exiled to Earth.
