Biography
Gama Bomb originated in Dublin, Ireland, where the lineup of Philly Byrne on vocals, Domo Dixon on lead guitar, Luke Graham on rhythm guitar, Joe McGuigan handling bass and vocals, and Paul Caffrey on drums grew up immersed in video games, horror movies, comic books, and especially the classic thrash sound of the 1980s. Formed initially in 2002, the band’s frequently shifting roster refined its approach through two early demos and numerous performances before issuing its first album, the independently recorded and self-released Survival of the Fastest, in 2005—an effort that arrived well before the broader resurgence of thrash gained momentum. Once that revival gained worldwide traction, Earache Records quickly signed the group and issued its second full-length, Citizen Brain, during the summer of 2008.
