Biography
Germany's Dust Bolt channels a fierce, unvarnished strain of thrash metal whose roots trace directly to the ear-shattering precedent set by countrymen Kreator, Tankard, and Destruction. The group surfaced in the late 2000s and, through sheer persistence, secured a leading position within the European thrash community on the strength of neck-wrenching albums such as Awake the Riot (2014), Trapped in Chaos (2019), and Sound & Fury (2024).
Childhood friends united by an obsession with all things metal formed the band in Bavaria in 2007; their music draws more from the elemental, punk-charged force of vintage German thrash than from the nimble precision associated with Bay Area acts. Fronted throughout by vocalist Lenny Breuss, Dust Bolt released the debut EP Chaos Possession in 2010. Napalm Records soon signed the outfit and put out the first full-length, Violent Demolition, in 2013. With an established presence in the metal underground, the band quickly followed with its second album, 2014's Awake the Riot, which earned acclaim both domestically and internationally. Two years afterward came the similarly aggressive Mass Confusion, succeeded in 2019 by Trapped in Chaos.
Confined by pandemic restrictions, Dust Bolt turned to writing material that captured the prevailing mood of frustration and seclusion. The resulting collection—gritty, forceful, and laced with lethal hooks—appeared in 2024 as Sound & Fury, the group's inaugural release for AFM Records.
