Greece's Suicidal Angels came together in 2001, forging a sound rooted in the classic thrash style of the 1980s Bay Area scene. Guitarist and vocalist Nick Melissourgos has remained the only unchanging presence in the lineup across more than two decades, guiding the band's relentless, high-impact approach that has produced a string of well-received studio albums, notably 2012's Bloodbath, 2019's Years of Aggression, and 2024's Profane Player.

Drawing influence from Napalm Death, Celtic Frost, and Slayer, Melissourgos established the group in 2001 as its guitarist, vocalist, and principal songwriter. An early demo, United by Hate, surfaced in 2002, followed by the EP Bloodthirsty Humanity in 2004. A four-track single arrived in 2006, setting the stage for the band's debut full-length, Eternal Domination. By then Suicidal Angels had grown its audience across Europe while also attracting attention farther afield. In 2008 the outfit signed with Nuclear Blast and tracked its second album, Sanctify the Darkness, issued in 2009 as the first release on the German imprint NoiseArt. Over the ensuing three years the group maintained a demanding live schedule that included appearances at Wacken Open Air, Metalcamp, Sonisphere, and Brutal Assault Open Air. During the same span it delivered its third and fourth albums, 2010's Dead Again and 2012's Bloodbath, the latter becoming its first release to register on the charts. Divide and Conquer, from 2014, performed solidly on the German listings, a feat repeated by 2016's Division of Blood. The seventh studio album, Years of Aggression, reached listeners in 2019 and resonated with audiences in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Returning to Nuclear Blast, the band issued its eighth long-player, Profane Player, in 2024, highlighting its sharpened technical command and raw intensity.
