Biography
Dismal Euphony, the Norwegian death metal band, was fronted by Ole K. Helgesen and Kristoffer Austrheim. These longtime friends had launched their earliest project, the Headless Children, in 1992 at the shared age of 13. Once vocalist Erik Borgen and guitarist Kenneth Bergsagel joined, the group adopted the name Carnal Tomb in 1993. Following Borgen’s departure, Helgesen assumed vocal duties; the later addition of second vocalist Linn Achre Tveit and keyboardist Elin Overskott led the revised lineup to adopt the name Dismal Euphony.
The 1995 demo Spellbound attracted widespread interest in the European death metal underground and was commercially released as a self-titled EP on the Napalm label. The full-length Soria Moria Slott appeared in 1996, and the following year the band issued Autumn Leaves--The Rebellion of Tides. Those two albums prompted Nuclear Blast Records to sign the group, resulting in the 1999 release of its third album, All Little Devils. Lady Ablaze followed in 2000, with Autumn Leaves and Python Zero both appearing in early 2001.
