Biography
Emerging from the metal underground of the East Coast, Dragpipe merges the distorted, heavy drive of stoner rock with the relentless intensity of sludge metal to produce a tightly focused sonic impact. Three guitarists supply the group’s distinctive attack, complemented by Jai Diablo’s gruff vocals and the powerful drumming of Pete Barrera. After forming in Union City, New Jersey, the band built local momentum until Interscope Records took notice. Following a 2001 signing, the group entered the studio after recording demos with metal veterans Twiggy Ramirez and Jason Newsted, resulting in the album Music For the Last Day of Your Life. Released during summer 2002, the record was supported by a European tour alongside Filter.
