Bringing their pop-punk-inflected creative approach into the alternative realm, Dynamite Boy burst out of Austin during 1995. The Texas outfit consisted of Sean on vocals and guitar, Danny on guitar, bassist Adrian, and drummer Scott. Only twelve months after assembling, the group issued its debut full-length Hell Is Other People in 1996 on the Offtime Records imprint.

From the start the band sustained a packed itinerary of repeated live shows throughout the state over successive months. Finder's Keepers, its second album, appeared in 1999 on Fearless Records. In the years that followed, Dynamite Boy shared stages with Ataris and No Use for a Name before tracking its next studio effort. Somewhere in America, helmed by producer Cameron Webb after his prior work with Godsmack, Danzig, and Lit, reached stores in 2001. The band then hit the road as openers for the Offspring and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
