Biography
Hailing from New Jersey, the indie funk five-piece Element 101 forges a distinctive strain of punk rock that calls to mind Elvis Costello, the Go-Go's, All, and the Descendents. Under contract with Tooth & Nail Records, the lineup includes vocalist Crissie Verhagen, guitarists Chris Mizzone and Danny Papa, bassist Sal Ciaravino, and drummer Nick Acocella. The band delivered its debut album Future Plans Undecided during spring 2000, with Stereo Girl arriving in early 2001. Preparation for a third release found Element 101 attaining a fresh musical plateau. Issued in fall 2002, More Than Motion reflected both newfound confidence from the group and a sound marked by melodic tightness.
