Biography
Excalion came into being as a power metal group in the year 2000 within Konnevesi, a town located in central Finland. The ensemble's roster for their inaugural full-length effort, Primal Exhale, featured Jarmo Pääkkönen handling vocals, Kimmo Hänninen and Tero Vaaja on guitars, Jarmo "Jappe" Myllyvirta at the keyboards, Timo Sahlberg on bass, and Henri Pirkkalainen behind the drums. In the wake of that album's appearance on Sound Riot during 2005, both Hänninen and Sahlberg departed the ranks; Vesa Nupponen stepped in to fill a guitar position, and Vaaja moved over to handle bass.
