Biography
Fingertight fused post-grunge dynamics with strands of California's hardcore tradition, shaping a melodic style able to stand alongside the fierce, rage-driven groups that ruled MTV and radio airwaves in the early 2000s. After cultivating a following in San Francisco and across northern California, vocalists Scott Rose, guitarist Sergio Renuso, bassist Jesse Del Rio, and drummer Kirk Shelton pushed their independently released demo Meantime Between Failures directly at online listeners through the band's own site and MP3.com. That grassroots campaign delivered results in 2001 when the group landed a contract with Columbia. Tobias Miller and Bill Appleberry, each previously linked to aggro-metalsmiths Adema, were enlisted to produce the band's Columbia debut In the Name of Progress, which surfaced in April 2003.
