Biography
Floyd Taylor, the offspring of Johnnie Taylor, moved between mature R&B and contemporary blues across his work both as a recording artist and as a relentless live performer. Born in Chicago, he started out supplying backing vocals and joining his father for the occasional duet, a partnership that ran from the mid-1970s straight through to Johnnie Taylor’s death in 2000. In the first years of the following decade the younger Taylor issued solo albums on the Malaco label—Legacy in 2002, No Doubt in 2005, and You Still Got It in 2007. He later cut All of Me for CDS in 2010 and Shut Um Down for Artia in 2013. Floyd Taylor died in 2014 at the age of 60.
