Biography
Indie pop musician Frances Forever excels at crafting endearing melodic hooks paired with candid emotional expression. Their breakthrough arrived via the 2020 viral track “space girl,” which appeared on streaming rankings across more than four dozen countries and climbed to number 27 on the Billboard Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. That single anchored the six-track follow-up EP paranoia party, released in July 2021 on Mom + Pop Music, where Frances displayed a lighthearted versatility across multiple pop idioms. Subsequent releases included the affectionate team-up “Play with Fire” alongside Tessa Violet in mid-2023 and the March 2024 single “Baby Bang” featuring dacelynn.
A playful nod to the Mitski title “Francis Forever,” the project serves as the outlet for Massachusetts-based artist Frances Garrett. Under this name they issued the four-song debut EP pockets in November 2018 while attending Clark University in Worcester. Garrett first showcased the buoyant guitar-pop number “space girl” during a 2019 entry for NPR’s Tiny Desk contest; the song quickly spread across social platforms. By the close of 2020 it had surpassed ten million streams. Early the following year Frances Forever joined Mom + Pop Music and dropped a reworked “space girl” that introduced Chloe Moriondo. Around the same period Garrett finished a music-technology degree, after which the standalone track “Certified Fool” surfaced in late 2021.
