Formed in 2004 by Yiva Lindberg and Niklas Gustafsson, the Swedish indie pop duo Friday Bridge took its name from a modest village in Cambridgeshire, England, and proceeded to craft refined, synthesizer-and-harpsichord-rich songs shaped by the work of Kate Bush and Altered Images while aligning with other Scandinavian outfits including the Radio Dept., the Sound of Arrows, and Firefox AK. The pair launched the project that year via the cassette-only EP The Lady Julie on Best Kept Secret and returned in fall 2005 with the follow-up EP Friday Bridge 2 on Bedroom. In the two years that followed they issued a scattering of split 7" singles and compilation tracks, among them a contribution to Friendly Noise's Are You Scared to Get Happy? and the 2006 split single with Kelly Slusher titled The End of the Affair/Be There. But Is It Art? then signed the duo for their first full-length, Intricacy, which appeared in 2007, before the sophomore album Bite My Tongue arrived in 2009.
