Biography
New York City’s Full Blown Chaos delivered their first recording, a self-titled EP, in 2001; the effort later appeared on Jailhouse Records, the label founded by their former bassist Ed Conroy. Early momentum came from support slots alongside Hatebreed and Sepultura, and in 2003 Jailhouse joined forces with Jamey Jasta’s Stillborn Records to issue the follow-up EP Prophet of Hostility. Stillborn then put out the band’s debut full-length, Wake the Demons, in October 2004.
By playing more than two hundred concerts throughout 2005, frontman Ray Mazzola, bassist Mike “Lurk” Ruehle, guitarist Mike Facci, and drummer Jeff Facci introduced their sound to larger audiences, landing shows with Chimaira, Slipknot, Superjoint Ritual, God Forbid, and similar acts. The pace of road work eventually slowed, allowing the quartet to begin sessions in February 2006 with producer and engineer Eric Rachel, whose prior credits include Every Time I Die and A Life Once Lost. Their second album, Within the Grasp of Titans, emerged that summer and coincided with appearances on Ozzfest.
