Biography
Gang Signs, the atmospheric electronic trio hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia, apply the self-description "cinematic new wave" to their sound. The lineup consists of vocalist Peter Ricq, who also performs with the dark-electro project Humans, keyboardist and vocalist Matea Sarenac (known as DJ Wobangs), and drummer/percussionist Adam Fink; the three came together once each had voiced interest in collaborating. Ricq captured the group’s debut self-titled EP inside his own bedroom while on break from Humans, and reviewers praised the recording’s dark, lush textures alongside its crystalline production. After the EP surfaced, the band built momentum through live appearances, sharing stages with Fucked Up, Tanlines, Yacht, Gold & Youth, and Young Empires. They subsequently joined the File Under: Music roster and issued their first full-length album, Geist, in 2015.
