Biography
As an electronic composer and songwriter, Gary Stadler fused worldbeat melodies with symphonic craft, positioning himself among the leading figures in new age music at the start of the new millennium. During the 1990s he methodically built his recording path, securing a contract with Sequoia Records and unveiling the luminous piano textures of his debut release, Fairy of the Woods (1996). Stadler soon formed a close bond with vocalist Laura Drew, known also as Singh Kaur and Lorallei, and the mutual admiration between them developed into a creative partnership. Drew contributed her vocals to his 1998 album Fairy Nightsongs, which drew on Celtic traditions. After Drew passed away from cancer soon afterward, Stadler, profoundly affected by the death of his collaborator, began working with the vocalist Stephannie. Her performances appeared on Fairy Heart Magic, issued in fall 2000. Three years later Stadler joined harpist Lisa Lynne for Reflections of Faerie, an album that revealed a more personal and emotionally direct side of his work. The 2004 release Deep Within a Faerie Forest carried a similar depth, this time featuring Australian vocalist Wendy Rule on an immersive sonic journey.
