London-based performer Jess Higgs, performing under the name George Maple, crafts songs as a singer and songwriter originally from Sydney, Australia. Her vocals carry a seductive, yearning quality while her lyrics turn inward, all set against downtempo grooves shaped by R&B alongside lighter dance rhythms. Recognition first arrived through her featured role on Flume’s self-titled debut album in 2012. Shortly after, she lent her voice to recordings by Deetron and Snakehips, while Maribou State delivered a remix of her single “Fixed.” Future Classic issued her debut EP, Vacant Space, in 2014; the project featured productions from Flume, Kwes., and Slime. Additional guest appearances followed on tracks by Slime, Goldroom, and What So Not. Her first full-length album, Lover, surfaced via EMI in 2017 and contained the singles “Where You End and I Begin” and “Sticks and Horses.”
