Biography
Green River Ordinance crafts its direct, airplay-focused pop/rock sound under the guidance of lead vocalist Josh Jenkins, bassist Geoff Ice, drummer Denton Hunker, and guitarists Josh Wilkerson and Jamey Ice. The group came together in Ft. Worth, Texas, laying down its debut EP inside a church basement before promoting the project through independent, fan-driven efforts that earned support slots with Collective Soul, Eisley, and Mutemath. Teenagers at the time, the musicians grew their following with the 2005 release The Beauty of Letting Go, whose resemblance to the Fray and Matchbox Twenty helped land a deal with Virgin Records. Their first major-label album, Out of My Hands, appeared in early 2009 and reached number ten on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Two EPs followed in 2011—Songs We Like from Before We Were Born and Waterhope—before the band turned again to grassroots financing for the 2012 full-length Under Fire, a Kickstarter-backed effort that featured the regional successes “Dancing Shoes” and “Heart of Me.” Chasing Down the Wind arrived as another EP in 2013, and the Residence Music-issued Fifteen marked the next studio album in 2016.
