Biography
Honor Society fused mature sophistication with the R&B-tinged craftsmanship typical of teen-oriented pop, drawing widespread attention in 2009 through multiple ties to the Jonas Brothers. Alex Noyes, who played drums, had earlier served in the Jonas Brothers' support ensemble, and the brothers continued to follow his subsequent endeavors once he departed that role. At the same time, Michael Bruno on vocals and guitar, Jason Rosen on keyboards, and Andrew Lee on bass performed across New York City venues as "Airborne," yet the exit of their original drummer, coupled with the threat of litigation from the Australian heavy metal outfit Airbourne, prompted a rebranding. Noyes soon joined as the new percussionist, after which the reconfigured outfit, rechristened Honor Society, forwarded its first EP to the Jonas Brothers. Inside twelve months the group secured a contract with the Jonas Brothers' imprint, supported the headliners on national dates, and supplied tracks for the film Bandslam while readying its first full-length effort, Fashionably Late, issued in 2009. The band issued A Tale of Risky Business, Pt. 2 in 2011, succeeding its 2008 EP.
