Biography
During his teenage years, Hey! Astro began crafting music purely for amusement by penning lighthearted diss tracks aimed at amusing companions throughout Sydney’s suburban neighborhoods. That same command of lyrics later fueled attention-grabbing demos and vibrant singles that wove together his wide-ranging stylistic tastes.
Owen Elepano entered the world within a mixed Filipino and Italian household along Australia’s central coast. Once he committed to music as a career path, he pursued an ambitious global approach, mining YouTube for productions by emerging beat-makers from distant locales and favoring an international sonic palette. Soulful keyboard backdrops suited him as readily as sharp guitar textures, while he moved without effort between rapid, cadence-driven verses and tuneful choruses.
His debut release, the 2022 track “Birthday,” captured those qualities along with an easy appeal that drew notice from label executives. After inking a deal with I Oh You Records, the 2022–2023 singles “Place to Speak,” “Where Was You Going?” and “Wonderland” built consistent domestic interest. By the close of that period, Australian station Triple J selected him for the Lost Paradise festival bill. Additional 2024 offerings “Superficial” and “Tell Me” arrived ahead of a complete mixtape planned for the same year.
