Biography
Dan Vidmar records as Shy Girls, the alias under which the Portland-based alternative-R&B artist works. Born in State College, Pennsylvania, he relocated to the West Coast after earning his degree from Pennsylvania State University and began pursuing music on a professional level almost immediately upon settling in Portland. His breakthrough arrived in 2013 with the SoundCloud posting of “Under Attack,” a track that swiftly drew enthusiastic notices and prompted the year-end release of the Timeshare EP. Throughout 2014 he supported Haim on their American dates and also opened for Maxwell. The 4WZ mixtape surfaced the following year, while 2016 was spent completing his first full-length album, Salt, which reached listeners in early 2017. After that, Vidmar concentrated on standalone releases, issuing “Hallelujah” and “Headfucked” in 2018 before unveiling “This Is Your World” and “Lay and Be Lonely” in the opening months of 2019.
