Humanos

In 2004 the Portuguese indie rock outfit Humanos assembled expressly to document and stage unreleased material by the late iconic Portuguese singer-songwriter António Variações. Following his death in 1984, a box of reel-to-reel tapes containing songs he had never issued came to light. Those recordings stayed archived for nearly twenty years until journalist Nuno Galopim transcribed them, after which musicians drawn from several Portuguese bands committed the tracks to tape. The resulting self-titled debut appeared in 2004, with the live set Humanos ao Vivo arriving two years afterward.
