Humans

In 2010 Peter Ricq and Robbie Slade launched Humans after shifting their focus from indie rock to dance music. The Vancouver, British Columbia duo issued their first recording that year, the self-released EP Avec Mes Mecs, whose seven tracks paired buzzing and occasionally abrasive sounds with Slade’s candy-coated melodies. Two years afterward they joined the Canadian independent label Hybridity and delivered the EP Traps, whose arrangements favored open spaces and softer edges. Noontide appeared in 2015, a more refined album whose house-inspired productions were woven in with notable sophistication. Ricq continues to work outside the group as an artist and illustrator, most prominently as co-creator of the Canadian animated television series League of Super Evil. Slade has held the positions of marketing director and creative manager for the Bass Coast festival.
