Instinct

In the wake of Pigbag’s dissolution, vocalist Angela Jaeger joined bassist Simon Underwood and guitarist James Johnstone to launch Instinct. The trio signed with Trevor Horn’s ZTT imprint and contributed one track to the label’s 1985 compilation Sampled. They completed a single that stayed unreleased and had begun tracking a debut album when creative differences surfaced over Horn’s production methods, whose characteristically expansive sound failed to suit the group. Those sessions yielded nothing further, prompting the band to disband. Jaeger subsequently collaborated with the Monochrome Set, the Bush Tetras, and Billy Mackenzie of the Associates.
