Biography
Before establishing himself as a solo artist with a 2012 debut, Danish singer/songwriter Jacob Bellens had already earned recognition throughout the Copenhagen music community through his work with the bands I Got You on Tape and Murder. The two groups formed during the mid-2000s and each explored a separate facet of his singular vision for pop. His warm, laconic baritone and playfully maudlin tone carried echoes of Scott Walker, Tom Waits, and Magnetic Fields throughout his carefully crafted style. After the 2011 album Church of the Real by I Got You on Tape, Bellens joined forces with electronic artist Kasper Bjørke to provide vocals on several tracks from the 2012 release Fool. Later the same year he issued his first solo effort, the shuffling baroque pop album The Daisy Age. The single “Do You Have Anything Harder?” served as a link to his next full-length record, the 2014 LP My Convictions.
