Biography
Jacob Latimore, recognized for his work as a vocalist spanning pop and R&B alongside his acting roles, first built visibility through Radio Disney during the mid-2000s and later secured broader attention via the 2007 single "Superstar." Although an RCA contract that followed failed to yield results, he established himself independently through mature contemporary R&B, issuing the charting debut album Connection in 2016 along with Connection2 in 2019 and C3 in 2020, plus the Leo Season EP that same year and various singles. His screen credits encompass Vanishing on 7th Street and Detroit plus starring parts in The Chi and The Last Summer. In late 2023 he issued the further EP Closure.
Born Jacob O'Neal Latimore, Jr. in Milwaukee in 1996, he encountered early notice as a child when the 2005 single "Best Friend" received airplay on Radio Disney. Enrolled in the network’s Incubator program, he shared stages with other young performers and made an appearance on Maury Povich’s nationally televised talk show. He and his family later relocated from Milwaukee to Atlanta to support his developing career in entertainment. The follow-up single "Superstar," co-written and co-produced by Rico Love, climbed to number 84 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in September 2007. Further progress arrived in 2010 with a Jive/RCA signing and a part in the film Vanishing on 7th Street. Despite the major-label deal, he sustained his acting work through television appearances in Read Between the Lines and The Finder while also circulating mixtapes such as I Am the Future in 2009 and This Is Me in 2012.
The single "Like 'Em All" maintained a lengthy run on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart before reaching number 55 in December 2011. The following summer brought the charting release "You Come First." In 2014 the track "Heartbreak Heard Around the World," featuring guest vocals from T-Pain, appeared. Latimore resurfaced in 2015 with "The Climb," which also featured on his debut full-length Connection. That 2016 album, which reached number 36 on Billboard’s R&B/hip-hop chart, spotlighted the IshDARR collaboration "The Real" and the song "Remember Me." Connection2 arrived in 2019, quickly generating millions of streams for tracks including "Tru Shit" featuring Trevor Jackson and "Come Over Here." He released the third installment in the series, C3, in 2020; the triple album merged most material from the prior two volumes with fresh songs continuing in the same mature contemporary R&B style. The seven-track Leo Season EP followed before year’s end, succeeded in 2022 by the single "Selfish." A mid-2023 collaboration with Gemaine titled "Presence" preceded the November arrival of the Closure EP.
