Biography
Singer-songwriter Jake Scott crafts his own emotionally charged country and pop anthems while also supplying behind-the-scenes material for other performers. His initial notice arrived via the 2013 EP Of Life and Love and Longing, after which he contributed songs to Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, and additional acts. Building on an expanding streaming audience, he issued Contradictions in 2014 and The Long Road Home in 2016, then earned a CMT Award nomination for the 2022 single “She Likes It,” recorded with Russell Dickerson. The full-length Lavender followed in 2023.
Fayetteville, Arkansas, marks his birthplace, where a viewing of the film That Thing You Do first sparked his musical curiosity and prompted him to begin playing drums. During his teenage years he added guitar duties at church. Following high school he enrolled at the University of Arkansas, composing material and performing at nearby coffeehouses. The self-produced EP Of Life and Love and Longing appeared in 2013, reached Billboard’s Heatseekers chart, and drew the interest of songwriter-producer David Hodges, who extended a publishing agreement. After completing his studies, Scott moved to Los Angeles and soon collaborated with Aloe Blacc, Maroon 5, Jessie J, Jason Mraz, the Weeknd, Tove Lo, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, and further artists.
He maintained his own recording schedule, delivering Contradictions in 2014, which featured the single “Same Old Story,” and The Long Road Home in 2016. Beginning in 2018 he adopted a monthly release strategy on streaming platforms, launching the series with “Tuesdays.” The approach succeeded, and by 2020 he had surpassed 3,000,000 followers while selling out live dates. The 2022 track “She Likes It” with Russell Dickerson secured a CMT Music Award nomination for Collaborative Video of the Year. One year later he presented the romantic album Lavender.
