Biography
James TW, a vocalist and composer from Britain celebrated for tender love songs alongside reflective acoustic pop compositions, attracted global interest and modest chart traction through his 2016 track “When You Love Someone.” In the years that followed he built steady streaming momentum via tracks such as “Please Keep Loving Me” and “You and Me,” both featured on his debut full-length Chapters issued in 2019. Entering the subsequent decade he delivered a run of EPs, among them Heartbeat Changes in 2022.
Born James Taylor-Watts in 1997, the artist raised in Warwickshire launched his musical path as a drummer, stepping in for his father’s wedding ensemble at age ten. Before reaching his mid-teens he had also taken up guitar and piano. He started posting cover versions online via YouTube and performed intimate acoustic sets in neighborhood pubs. Drawing from John Mayer and Ed Sheeran, his expressive vocal approach aligned with a comparable vein of pop singer/songwriter material. After independently issuing the 2014 EP Just a Number, he secured a contract with Island thanks to assistance from Canadian pop star Shawn Mendes.
Immediate headway arrived with the emotional single “When You Love Someone,” taken from the 2016 EP First Impressions and registering on charts across the U.K., U.S., and Sweden. During the following twenty-four months TW flooded the market with standalone releases, among them a rendition of Gnarls Barkley’s hit “Crazy” plus originals “Ex” and “Please Keep Loving Me.” Although his 2019 album Chapters made limited impression domestically, it registered across additional European territories and earned particular favor throughout Scandinavia.
In 2021 he resurfaced with multiple EPs—Romance, Crazy Love, and Stronger Together—each surfacing within the opening months. Later that year the rhythm-driven “Butterflies” gained streaming traction and was included on the 2022 EP Heartbeat Changes.
