Nashville-based vocalist Stephen Day blends elements of pop, rock, soul, and jazz across his catalog, noted for the emotional resonance and narrative focus that define his songwriting.

Born during 1996 in Buford, Georgia, he first picked up an instrument at age 12 upon discovering his mother’s stored acoustic guitar and coaxing her into showing him basic chords. Within roughly two years he had composed a piece that convinced her of his potential, prompting him to envision a professional path in music. He continued writing and began testing material at local open-mic events. Relocating to Nashville for higher education, Day launched his recording output in 2016 by issuing the self-released EP Undergrad Romance and the Moses in Me during his sophomore year at Belmont University.

Steady local performances helped him gain recognition, leading to the 2019 arrival of his first full-length studio album, Guess I’m Grown Now, which carried a denser, more polished rock-band aesthetic than the earlier EP. Reviewers quickly likened the project to John Mayer’s style—an association Day embraced—while he cited Glen Campbell, D’Angelo, Stevie Wonder, and Frank Sinatra among his key influences. A follow-up EP, Original Songs and Sound, surfaced in 2020, succeeded the next year by the album The Shapes I’m In. Day has headlined U.S. dates and opened for Teddy Swims, Ben Rector, Stephen Sanchez, and Lawrence, in addition to appearances across Asia and Europe. Only after releasing his third album, Gold Mine, in 2024 did he secure a recording contract, signing with Riser House Records; the label then issued his holiday single “It’s Christmas All Over” that October.
