Biography
Jarbird, a London quartet, originated at Leeds University when vocalists Ric Hollingbery and Lara Verney first connected as students. After finishing their coursework, the two returned to the capital and completed the lineup by adding bassist Jim and drummer Rami. Their eclectic alt-pop approach, shaped by R&B influences, fused shadowy lushness with inviting sonic warmth and echoed the eerie moods of Radiohead, Fever Ray, and Alt-J while incorporating soulful qualities akin to those of Jack Garratt, Daniel Johns, and IYES. An early demo appeared in 2015, after which the band signed to the French label Oskar. The preview single "More Bad Celebrity Poetry" surfaced in late 2013 and was succeeded by "Such Is the House" in 2015. Their debut EP arrived in early 2016 and included the single "Iona."
