Born on 18 December 1976 in New York City, New York, USA, Russo is a skilled percussionist whose work has frequently placed him alongside pop and rock ensembles. His drumming credits include stints in Danjaboots, Fat Mama, Tom Hamilton's American Babies, and Robert Walter's 20th Congress, though his widest recognition has come from paired appearances with pianist Marco Benevento. Russo occasionally switches to guitar and has authored several of the pieces featured in those duo sets. He also joins Benevento in the quartet GRAB, whose lineup is completed by bassist Mike Gordon and guitarist Trey Anastasio. Renowned for an energetic and forceful style at the kit, Russo channels intense dedication into every performance, rendering his contributions to each group both vivid and lasting.
