Biography
Jonny Craig established his standing based on emotionally resonant songwriting and sophisticated singing that sometimes drew from soul traditions during his time in several post-hardcore groups including Westerhalts and Ghost Runner on Third, though Dance Gavin Dance and Emarosa proved especially significant since both issued records via the Rise imprint. He credits his grandmother for exposing him to gospel and R&B, elements that grew more central to his style with increasing experience behind the microphone. Even while contending with issues related to drug dependency, Craig maintained an impressively active and diverse output that encompassed work alongside Isles & Glaciers plus multiple featured spots on other projects. The debut album under his own name, A Dream Is a Question You Don't Know How to Answer, appeared through Rise during 2009 and represented the most controlled and subtle effort he had produced up until then. Following Live at Bamboozle 2010 came the EP Find What You Love and Let It Kill You, which arrived in 2013.
