K-Trap, a London-based trap and drill artist, crafts tracks built on languid electro beats, hazy resonant bass lines, and lyrics that blend defiance with hedonism. Recognition has followed his choice to mask his identity beneath a balaclava. In 2017 he surfaced on the U.K. urban circuit through an unvarnished, confrontational rap approach, most prominently on the independently issued single “Paper Plans,” whose independently filmed video portrayed East London street life with sleek, stylish framing. The release quickly drew widespread notice and cultivated a committed audience pressing for a longer project. June 2017 saw the arrival of his debut mixtape, The Last Whip, which carried guest spots from Blade Brown, Dimzy, Mischief, and Youngs Teflon. Mischief in turn formed an ongoing partnership with K-Trap, and the pair unveiled “9 Anthem” that same year.
