North West London's M Huncho, an anonymous rapper who performs in a mask, crafts a woozy, trippy brand of rap he labels "trapwave," with lyrics drawn straight from his street-level experiences. His breakthrough arrived via the first two major-label mixtapes, Utopia (2019) and Huncholini the 1st (2020), both of which earned silver certification in the U.K. Those releases set the stage for his debut studio album, Chasing Euphoria, which surfaced in 2022 after the charting singles "Warzone" with Headie One and "Lean" with Giggs.

Having already built local recognition, M Huncho gained sudden attention in April 2017 through an appearance on the web series Mad About Bars, where he delivered a freestyle that viewers immediately hailed as one of the show's strongest. That moment cemented his standing, leading to the October arrival of his debut EP Get Out, whose single "Mediocre" preceded the 2018 follow-up EP 48 Hours.

Island issued his first mixtape, the 14-track Utopia, in April 2019. The project unified his signature trapwave sound into a cohesive, atmosphere-focused collection and yielded his biggest track to date, "Ocho Cinco." A second mixtape followed quickly with 2020's Huncholini the 1st. Fronted by the Nafe Smallz collaboration "Thumb," the set mixed his core trapwave approach with occasional detours into melodic trap. Later that year, Huncho and Smallz reunited for the joint mixtape DNA, which drew on contributions from Young Adz and Yxng Bane to showcase the pair's established chemistry across a series of trapwave anthems. Several standalone singles appeared in 2021 before the two aforementioned collaborations anchored the 2022 album Chasing Euphoria.
