Biography
Kaddisfly, the Portland, Oregon outfit, fused progressive and pop touches with indie rock while deliberately sidestepping the prevailing sounds of the era, issuing the potent EP Honorable Mention in 2001. Humania followed as their next EP in 2002, with the band's debut full-length Did You Know People Can Fly? arriving the subsequent year. In 2005 the quintet—vocalist/pianist Chris Ruff, guitarist Aaron Tollefson, bassist Kile Brewer, drummer Beau Kuther, and guitarist/percussionist Kelsey Kuther—joined the Hopeless roster for Buy Our Intention; We'll Buy You a Unicorn. Their Fall 2006 EP The Four Seasons, issued digitally and in a limited physical edition on Hopeless, paved the way for the full-length Set Sail the Prairie, which surfaced in early March 2007. During the opening months of that year the group also appeared on the Take Action Tour with the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Emery, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, and additional acts.
