Biography
Kris Berry, a Caribbean-based singer and songwriter with rootsy sensibilities, fuses an eclectic palette in her work that spans New Orleans jazz, country, and R&B while incorporating textures native to her island surroundings. Born in Curaçao in 1982, she absorbed an expansive range of sounds during her formative years, from Latin and ska to Cuban music. Her enduring affinity for singing evolved into a clear artistic direction only in 2008, when she started appearing with a jazz ensemble. Since 2010 she has partnered with guitarist and producer Paul Willemsen to shape her singular cross-genre approach. A five-song EP appeared in 2011, and her first full-length album, Marbles, followed in 2012.
