Biography
La Vienta came together as a guitar duo after an unexpected encounter in a corridor at the University of Texas at El Paso. Hispanic guitarist Mario Otero and European-born Stefan Schyga combined their separate abilities on the 1993 debut album Jazzmenco, which blends jazz, flamenco, classical, Brazilian, and rock elements. The pair sustained that approach across later releases Night Dance in 1994 and Forgotten Romance in 1996.
