Born in Concord, CA, Lana Lane maintains an active career both as a solo performer and as a frequent contributor to recordings by numerous fellow artists. She collaborates extensively with her spouse, Erik Norlander, across many of his endeavors. Although her exceptional vocal abilities serve as her primary instrument, she also performs on guitar. Beyond her independent releases and contributions to Norlander’s projects, she has lent her talents to albums from Ambeon, Ayreon, and Rocket Scientists, the latter being Norlander’s own group. Her solo output commenced in 1995 with the album Love Is an Illusion, followed the next year by Curious Goods. A prolific 1998 yielded Garden of the Moon along with its companion EP Echoes From the Garden, the live recording Live in Japan, the compilation Ballad Collection, and a remixed edition of Love Is an Illusion that incorporated three tracks absent from the initial version. In 1999 she issued Queen of the Ocean together with the related EP Echoes From the Ocean, plus the retrospective The Best of Lana Lane. The year 2000 brought Secrets of Astrology, the follow-up compilation Ballad Collection II, and the two-disc Ballad Collection Special Edition that combined both ballad anthologies. A special-edition reissue of Love Is an Illusion appeared in 2001, and Project Shangri-La arrived in early 2002.
