Biography
Born to a minister, Larry Dalton merges his command of music with deep spiritual convictions. He appears regularly on faith-focused cable broadcasts such as Hour Of Power and the 700 Club. Dalton formerly served as music director for Oral Roberts TV, composing more than one thousand pieces that aired on the program. In addition to nine solo albums, among them Praise Magnificat, Glorious, Great Songs of Praise, Ship of Zion, and Classic Christmas Brass, he is featured in two videos. Glorious Praise, issued in 1993, earned an Angel award, while In Excelsis Deo, released the following year, received a Dove award nomination. He has accompanied leading performers including Cliff Richard, Mel Tormé, Henry Mancini, the Lettermen, the Four Freshmen, and the Drifters. Dalton also wrote the book Praise Magnificent Piano, published in 1994 by Integrity Music.
Performance represents only one expression of his abilities. A widely admired arranger, he has prepared concert and theatrical material for Carol Lawrence, Donald O’Connor, Larry Gatlin, and Ellis Marsalis, along with albums for Steve Perry, Paula Abdul, Al Green, Vicki Wynans, Maurice Sklar, and Greg Buchanan. In partnership with Terry Law he founded the musical ministry Living Sound International and currently presides over the Tulsa, OK-based Christian music organization Ars Musica Christiana, Inc.
His solo recordings have included the London-based National Philharmonic Orchestra and violinist Maurice Sklar. In 1995 he recorded the album Sleepers, Wake with the Nashville String Machine and harper Greg Buchanan.
