Colombian twin sisters Laura and Lucía Villa, raised in Bogotá and immersed in music from childhood, first drew widespread streaming attention in 2019 through their fusion of R&B, trap, and Latin pop. After cultivating an audience on social platforms while absorbing the sounds of J Balvin, Bad Bunny, and Rosalía, they crafted a Latin pop approach infused with R&B, trap, and reggaeton elements. Their 2019 signing to Warner Music Latina coincided with the release of their debut single “Nadita,” a sinuous and tuneful cut that wove together their range of influences and quickly amassed millions of streams. Later that year the duo followed with the reggaeton-driven “Animal.” Further momentum arrived in 2020 via the LAGOS collaboration “Cuerno,” already noted among their signature tracks, as well as the Milky Woodz partnership “Mírame” and the Beéle-assisted “Caníbales.” They opened 2021 with the single “Balada Para Perrear.”
