Biography
Sweden's Last Tribe specializes in melodic power metal, placing the technical prowess of guitarist Magnus Karlsson at the forefront. Karlsson launched the group in the late 1990s with vocalist Rickard Bengtsson, formerly of Armageddon, and the alliance promptly earned a contract from the Frontiers label, which released the band's debut album The Ritual in 2001. That record also featured second guitarist Lee Day, bassist Par Wallmark, and drummer Kristoffer Andersson, while the follow-up albums Witch Dance (2002) and The Uncrowned (2003) pared Last Tribe down to a quartet by adding bassist Dick Lowgren and drummer Jaime Salazar. Lowgren later joined the avant-garde industrialists Meshuggah.
