Anubis Gate emerged from Denmark in the early 2000s as a progressive metal band whose melodic power metal foundation drew on the styles of Queensrÿche, King Crimson, Fates Warning, and Iron Maiden. Within the global prog-metal community the group earned recognition for its meticulously crafted and energetically varied recordings, among them The Detached (2008), Horizons (2014), and Interference (2023).

The collective was established in 2003, and its first full-length album, Purification, appeared on Locomotive Records in 2006. The next year brought Andromeda Unchained, an effort that further emphasized the band’s progressive leanings; in 2008 the conceptual release The Detached followed and received a Danish Metal Award for its production quality. Prior to the 2011 arrival of the self-titled fifth album, the musicians secured a contract with Minnesota-based Nightmare Records. Horizons in 2014 and Covered in Black in 2016 documented continued stylistic development, the latter adopting a darker and more dissonant character. The 2020 covers collection Covered in Colours ranged across thrash, prog, psych-pop, and jazz. In 2023 the band joined the roster of Dutch label No Dust Records and delivered Interference, its ninth studio album, marked by heavy yet melodic songwriting.
