Biography
In collaboration with Tchad Blake and producer Mitchell Froom, David Hidalgo and Louie Perez of Los Lobos launched the side project Latin Playboys, delivering a twisted and avant-garde interpretation of roots music. On their ambitious self-titled 1994 album, the Latin Playboys incorporated blues, border music, experimental studio trickery, and cinematic sound textures. Hidalgo and Perez composed every track, steering the project in a considerably more experimental direction than their Los Lobos work. Dose followed in 1999.
