In the early 1990s, Mexican experimental band La Lupita entered the local scene by fusing rock with traditional Latin music and delivering lyrics marked by irony and sarcasm, a combination that established the group’s signature sense of humor. The outfit made its debut in 1993 on the album Pa' Servir A Usted. To record the follow-up, the band relocated to London, where Argentinean Fito Paez joined the sessions to play keyboards on “Funkito” and sing on “El Funeral De Un Payaso.” BMG issued Que Bonito Es Casi Todo in 1994. A year later La Lupita tracked Tres D, which appeared in 1996 accompanied by 3-D glasses and distinctive cover artwork. After touring Latin America and the U.S., the group released Caramelo Macizo in 1998.
