Biography
Left to Suffer emerged as a deathcore outfit whose sound fuses a metallic chrome edge with nu-metal influences and a recurring pattern of high-profile guest appearances. The Atlanta outfit first reached the broader metal audience through the 2021 EP On Death and the widely praised second album Feral, which surfaced in 2023. On the 2024 release Leap of Death the five-piece expanded its range by folding in additional metal styles across a sturdy collection of tracks.
The group formed in 2019 with vocalist Taylor Barber, bassist Christian Nowatzki, guitarists Peter Higgs and Jacob Gordon, and drummer Levi Dunn. Their first full-length, A Year of Suffering, arrived the next year and featured contributions from Brojob, Signs of the Swarm, and then-Lorna Shore vocalist CJ McCreery. Dunn departed on good terms in 2021; Alex Vavra stepped in on drums. That same year the band issued On Death, which included guest spots from Chelsea Grin, Alpha Wolf, and Crystal Lake plus the track “Anger” that accumulated millions of streams. A second EP, And Dying Forever, followed in 2022, succeeded by the assured album Feral in 2023. Later that year the quintet recorded the six-song EP Noah alongside co-producers Howard Benson and Three Days Grace drummer and songwriter Neil Sanderson. With Leap of Death in 2024 the band further refined its approach, layering heavier grooves, electronics, and melodic shifts onto its continually developing deathcore foundation.
