Manchester, England’s Ingested emerged from the remnants of Age of Suffering, a project three members abandoned after issuing a demo titled Human Food and an EP called Holy Butchery. Retaining the ferocious blend of punishing breakdowns, powerful riffs, and thrash-derived velocity that defined their earlier work, the remaining musicians adopted the Ingested name and signed with Candlelight Records. Following several personnel shifts, the lineup stabilized around vocalist Jason Evans, guitarists Sean Hynes and Sam Yates, bassist Brad Fuller, and drummer Lyn Jeffs.

Their first full-length, Surpassing the Boundaries of Human Suffering, appeared in 2009. Shortly afterward the band joined the European Bonecrusher Fest package, which featured headliners the Black Dahlia Murder alongside Carnifex, 3 Inches of Blood, and the Faceless. A second album, The Surreption, arrived in 2012 and was trailed by prominent festival appearances plus the 2014 EP Revered by No One, Feared by All. Century Media issued the third studio effort, The Architect of Extinction, in 2015, while 2018’s The Level Above Human came out via Los Osos, California-based death-metal imprint Unique Leader.

The punishing fifth album, Where Only Gods May Tread, surfaced in 2020. A re-recorded edition of the band’s second LP, titled The Surreption II, followed in 2021. After securing a deal with Metal Blade, Ingested released the grief-and-isolation-themed deathcore record Ashes Lie Still in 2022. Their latest uncompromising statement, The Tide of Death and Fractured Dreams, arrived in 2024, further cementing their status among Britain’s most formidable death-metal outfits.
