Biography
Hailing from Australia, the extreme metal outfit Aversions Crown launched in 2010 and distinguished itself right away through its unusual setup of three eight-string guitars powering a ferocious deathcore approach. Their potent mix of crushing force and eerie atmospheres soon drew interest from Nuclear Blast, which put out the band’s second album, Tyrant, in 2014. Although the group weathered repeated membership shifts across the ensuing years, Aversions Crown kept delivering its dark, aggressive sound into the following decade with the 2020 release Hell Will Come for Us All.
Established in Brisbane in 2010, the six-piece tracked its first full-length, Servitude, working alongside Thy Art Is Murder producer Andy Marsh; the record appeared on its own in 2011. The ensemble’s adaptable fusion of intricate deathcore and heavy groove-metal impressed Nuclear Blast enough to bring Aversions Crown aboard. The dystopian/sci-fi-themed Tyrant, again produced by Marsh, surfaced in 2014 and expanded the band’s punishing deathcore base with stretches of dark ambiance plus sporadic clean leads. With the loosely conceptual Xenocide in 2017, the lineup stabilized around guitarists Mick Jeffery and Chris Cougan, drummer Jayden Mason, and vocalist Mark Poida. In 2019 the group added Tyler Miller as its new singer, and he made his first recorded appearance on the stark, intense Hell Will Come for Us All.
