Biography
Worm Shepherd’s punishing deathcore blends symphonic layers with pummeling breakdowns and guttural nightmare vocals, forging a relentless sound that connects powerfully with devotees of the darkest extreme metal. The lineup responsible for the group’s 2020 debut In the Wake Ov Sól has since transformed into a primarily studio-based endeavor incorporating both longstanding and newer personnel on later releases, including the 2024 album Hunger.
The project originated in Brockton, Massachusetts, where guitarist and principal songwriter Tre Perdue joined vocalist Devin Duarte, guitarist Brandon Cooper, bassist Ryan Ibarra, and drummer Leo McClain. Although the ensemble came together in early 2020 amid the disruptions of COVID-19, they completed their debut full-length by year’s end; the crushing In the Wake Ov Sól quickly drew focused attention from deathcore listeners. The same five-piece configuration issued the follow-up Ritual Hymns two years later.
By the arrival of the 2023 EP The Sleeping Sun, the band’s internal structure had already changed markedly, with Perdue assuming every instrumental role while Duarte remained the vocalist and began incorporating clean passages alongside his signature growls. Further shifts occurred ahead of Hunger in 2024, when Perdue brought in guitarist Harry Tadayon—known for his work with Immortal Disfigurement and Befouled Tongue—alongside drummer Nahuel Lozano. That configuration proved temporary: Hunger was presented as Duarte’s final recording with the band, after which Perdue announced the cessation of live activity in favor of studio-only work, retaining Tadayon as the other permanent member.
