Biography
Originating in Cairns, Queensland, the Australian deathcore outfit A Night in Texas delivers punishing breakdowns, rapid blastbeats, and sharply executed riffs with exacting force. Formed in 2010, the band produced a demo the next year that attracted Skull and Bones Records, resulting in the label’s 2013 release of their self-produced EP Invigoration. After relocating to Brisbane City, the five-piece refined their aggressive sound on a national tour with labelmates I Shall Devour before entering the studio for their first full-length album. The outcome was the assured 2015 release God Delusion, a nine-song collection of tightly constructed, brutal deathcore tracks. In 2016 the group issued the split EP The Unholy Alliance alongside Canadian extreme metal act Angelmaker.
In 2017 A Night in Texas chose an independent path for their second album, the uncompromising Global Slaughter, which included guest vocals by Ben Duerr of Shadow of Intent. The band expanded their range in 2021 with the ambitious double LP The Divine Dichotomy, spotlighting their technical deathcore abilities. Ahead of the 2024 album Digital Apocalypse, longtime vocalist Ethan Lucas exited, and new frontman Sam Cameron made his studio debut on the band’s first release for Unique Leader, a hard-hitting effort.
